What do I bring to my first lesson?
If your child is under 3 and in our Baby and Toddler levels, you will need to be in the water with them.
Please bring:
- Your own bathers.
- A t-shirt for over the top can be helpful for the child to grab onto
- A re-useable aqua nappy for the infant. We require double layers to keep our water clean please. We only accept Huggies little swimmers if they are under a re-useable swim nappy, not as a stand alone nappy, please chose from one of the below styles or pop into our centre to grab one that we sell. We recommend:
- Happy Nappy by Little Togs
- Vorgee Little Kozzie
- Zoggs Swim Sure
- Towels for you and your swimmer
- A snack for afterwards or warm bottle
- Warm clothes for afterwards, a robe, footwear and beanie when it's cooler.
- Your Kirby Swim Welcome bag to hold everything (you will get this at your first lesson!)
- Your baby passport to record your progress (you will get this at your first lesson!)
Over 3 years?
- One piece swimsuit for girls and swim trunks or Speedos for boys (no bikinis or board shorts please)
- A pair of goggles (we also stock them at the centre if you need a new pair)
- Long hair tied back please
- We don't recommend rashies unless they are very tight and don't create extra drag.
- Smaller swimmers can benefit from a specialised Thermal or Neoprene rashie in order to keep warm if they tend to get cold. We recommend Adrenalin or Shark Skin and sell them at the Centre in the cooler months (outdoor centres such as CCGS/MLC sell them year-round)
- A towel
- A water bottle if it's warm or doing squad training
- Sunscreen if outdoors at CCGS/MLC or Claremont Pool.
- A snack for afterwards
- Clothing and footwear for afterwards.
- We don't recommend running to the car in wet swimwear, especially in winter, please bring a warm change of clothes and leave the centre warm and dry.
